About
Welcome to my Artistic Journey!
My journey as a photographer began long before I ever picked up a camera. For the first 45years of my life, I watched my mother create beautiful oil paintings of landscapes and flowers. Without realizing it at the time, I was absorbing her way of seeing—the appreciation of color, light, texture, and the quiet beauty found in the world around us. She planted a love of art in me that eventually found its own expression through photography.
In 2009, that love came into focus as I began photographing my daughters playing fast-pitch softball. For nearly a decade, I was drawn to the energy, emotion, and fleeting moments of the game. Photography taught me to anticipate a moment, to notice what happens in a fraction of a second, and to tell a story through a single frame.
As my daughters grew and their seasons of softball came to an end, my photography began to slow down and turn outward in a different way. I became increasingly fascinated by the natural world, particularly the small details that are easy to overlook. Macro photography became a way for me to pause and look more closely—to discover extraordinary colors, textures, patterns, and forms in something as simple as a flower, leaf, or tiny creature. I found that changing my perspective could transform the familiar into something unexpected.
That same instinct to capture fleeting moments led me to photograph a new generation—my four grandsons. Watching them learn to walk, run, laugh, explore, and play has reminded me that photography is not only about beautiful places or interesting subjects; it is also about preserving moments that disappear almost as quickly as they arrive. Through them, I have come to appreciate even more the connection between photography, memory, and the passage of time.
In recent years, my camera has taken me beyond Georgia and into the vast landscapes of the American West. Traveling through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, Utah, Northern California, Oregon, Washington, and Vancouver has expanded my vision once again. I have found myself drawn to sweeping landscapes and dramatic light, but also to wildlife, changing seasons, and the intimate details that first captured my attention through macro photography.
Looking back, I see that my work has never really been about one particular subject. Whether photographing a softball game, a tiny flower, my grandsons at play, or a mountain range stretching toward the horizon, I am searching for the same thing: a moment worth noticing.
Photography has taught me to slow down, to look closer, and to remain curious. It has given me a way to explore the world while also preserving the people, places, and moments that have shaped my own. Through my lens, I hope to invite others to pause for a moment, see something from a different perspective, and discover the beauty that is always there waiting to be noticed.
